AMD and Nvidia Graphics Cards Price Increases
AMD and Nvidia graphics cards are becoming more expensive again
AMD and Nvidia Graphics Cards Price increases, A few weeks ago it looked as if we would be able to buy graphics cards from Nvidia again without any problems at the RRP at the end of 2021. But this bright future is now off the table again. The prices on the German graphics card market have risen sharply in the past few weeks.
While at the beginning of August the retail price of Nvidia’s RTX-3000 cards was on average “only” 50 percent above the RRP, we have now reached a surcharge of 70 percent. The price development of the AMD models should also give hardware enthusiasts stomach aches. In the same period, the sales price of the Radeon RX 6000 models rose from 53 percent to 74 percent above the recommended retail price (source: 3DCenter ).
Why are graphics card prices rising again?
There is no clear answer to this question, but the 3DCenter experts assume that the sharp fall in prices in summer was a seasonal effect. During this period, many pandemic restrictions were relaxed in this country, so that people spent more time outside than in front of the computer. That would also explain why prices are slowly rising again after the hot summer months. Interest is slowly growing again, but the range of graphics cards is not.
The opposite even seems to be the case – especially with Nvidia’s top model. The GeForce RTX 3090 has made one of the biggest price leaps. While the GPU was recently sold for just 29 percent above the RRP, this value has increased to 59 percent above the RRP within the last three weeks.
If you believe the assessment of the experts, it could well be that prices will continue to rise in winter. In the cold months of the year, interest in a gaming PC is likely to be greatest – especially since most blockbuster games are released during this time. So it is quite possible that graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia will become even more expensive. We will keep you up to date.
